Oprah Winfrey did a one-on-one interview with Meghan Markel and Harry. As the couple is in quite the controversy this interview gave people an insight into the couple’s life. It did a lot of shocking revelations about the Royal Family. The interview was presented by CBS and was streamed worldwide on March 7, 2021.

The interview started with Oprah talking to Meghan and later Harry joined the interview I would be talking about the interview in points and how it was and what all things were covered in the interview.

The interview was in an open setting in a garden the first few minutes of the interview were casual and about the new life of the couple and how they are adjusting to the United States. Then, Oprah asked Meghan about her relationship with the queen and Meghan shared that she was on remarkable terms with the queen and never had any quarrels with the queen. Later they talked about what happened that led to Media Coined term MEG-XIT in the United Kingdom. She said that more than the family the press was more responsible for the exit of the couple. She also mentioned that the royal family has a type of agreement with the press where they scratch each other’s back.

The portrayal of Meghan by the press was really strange when Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) was pregnant, she received a lot of good and warm press coverage. She was never criticized by any member of the press. But on the other hand, when Meghan the Duchess of Sussex was pregnant. She received a lot of criticism from the press, her baby was called monkey face she was targeted by her race and once she posted a photo of her eating avocado, she was criticized on that as well. This was the press but the couple was also targeted by the firm (Royal Family) they didn’t give her baby the title of Prince.

 

They also told Meghan that she might not get any security for her baby as he was not a prince, and the most outrageous thing was there were discussions about the color of the skin of the unborn baby, there were discussions on how dark the baby might be. Which was a tipping point for the couple. And then on January 8, 2020, the couple resigned from the position of senior members of the Royal family.

Harry also expressed that his father didn’t talk to him after this incident. He is still not on speaking terms with his brother the Duke of Cambridge. He said I was trapped but I wasn’t aware I was trapped. It was after him meeting Meghan he understood what was happening with his life. The couple also said that they were always given a false illusion of security and protection but were always thrown as bait to the media. They were also being cut off from all the financial aid that they were receiving the couple is now on their own and harry is currently sustaining on his mother’s estate that she left for him. They have started a new media Company and charity named ‘ARCHWELL’. 

At the end of the interview, Oprah asked to harry a question “that you were the prince born in a palace with all the privileges, comfort and you were born in this role so why do you feel trapped? “he said we tend often mistake that they are living a dream its always a lot difficult and not easy to be a part of this family and me felt that and I wanted to be myself then I wanted to be a Prince and now that I am not a prince, I don’t have to act I just have to be myself and live a happy life.

On 19^th February 2021, Prince Harry was stripped of all his titles and Honorary Military Titles and he was no longer Prince Harry but the only harry.

Before the interview there was a lot of confusion among the couple people were really anxious and also confused about them and now after this interview, I can say one thing for sure that the couple has the public in its side but is now in crosshairs with the Royal Family. The Royal family is like a complicated mechanism that is not only build of the family members but also of many people who work and support them. The people are the ones who support the Royal family in a financial way and this interview has shaped public opinion differently for sure.

The royal family has been a controversial and hot topic throughout the world, but behind closed doors, we don’t really how these monarchies function are they beautiful on the inside and also on the outside or are they staging an illusion of being open free, and liberal on the outside but being controlling manipulative and toxic on the inside.

 My Opinion- the thing is British have been practicing racism for a long time like the Apartheid in South Africa so this has been a long tradition. and now them doing such things with the couple feels like the bug of racism hasn't left the family and rigid system and I feel like this was the right time when movements like BLM are on the rise people would definitely support Meghan and Harry and would stand in solidarity with them.
